Clearing Course Enrollment Restrictions

Enrollment restrictions are managed exclusively by the department or program that offers the class. Most departments now use the Enrollment Authorization System (EASy) to consider requests to waive prerequisites and other enrollment restrictions. Please try this first when requesting waivers for enrollment restrictions in a UC San Diego class. If you do not see the course you need listed in this system, please then contact the department that offers the course through the Virtual Advising Center (VAC) for assistance.

HDS Courses that have Prerequisites

For HDS Core courses (HDS 110, 111, 120, 121, 122, 133) and elective courses (HDS 171, HDS 173, HDS 175), you should submit your request for enrollment through the Enrollment Authorization System (EASy) in order to be considered for prerequisite waiver and enrollment authorization.  HDS will review your academic history and other supporting documentation to determine if you qualify for a prerequisite waiver. If you do not see the HDS course you need listed as an option in the Enrollment Authorization System (EASy), please continue reading the next section.
