Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Human Development Program is to foster the understanding of human development as seen from biological, psychological, and socio-cultural perspectives. The program recognizes and addresses the central role of culturally diverse and interdependent communities in the process of human development, promotes research and practice in the service of individuals and society, and strives to support its objectives by providing:

  • A challenging academic structure emphasizing multidisciplinary preparation
  • Opportunities for the development of applied research and practice skills
  • Opportunities for individual learning through a comprehensive, student-centered curriculum
  • Access to innovative technologies
